FAQs
1) When will Kickstarter charge me?
When the campaign ends, Kickstarter will charge the pledged amount (including the anticipated shipping charges) to your payment method. If your payment method changes before the campaign ends, please update it. If it's not working properly, Kickstarter may try to contact you to correct any problems, so look out for their missives and respond quickly. Of course, don't click on any links, go directly to their site before logging in. Phishing attacks are becoming increasingly sophisticated.
2) What is your refund policy?
The nature of Kickstarter is to deliver the pledged money quickly so that the creators can move the projects forward as soon as possible. Supporters have the option to cancel or change their pledges any time during the campaign. As far as we can determine, Kickstarter does not have a mechanism to provide refunds.
3) When will my books or stickers ship?
Depending on fulfillment method, we hope to begin shipping the paperbacks and stickers in mid June, before the June 21, 2026 publication date. However, the autographed paperbacks may take longer because we will have to package and ship them after they are signed. Moreover, if autographed copies are in high demand, the author will need frequent breaks for hand mudras to prevent cramping.
4) When can I download the ebook or yoga class video?
We hope to fulfill the electronic rewards in mid June, before the June 21, 2026 publication date.
5) How will I get the ebook or yoga class video, and what platform can I get them on?
Probably in mid June, if the Kickstarter campaign is successful, we'll send you time-limited link to permit you to download the product. The digital books will be available in PDF, EPUB and perhaps MOBI.
6) Will the books be printed in the U.S.?
Books ordered to be sent to U.S. addresses will be printed and bound in the U.S. For books ordered to be sent to Canadian addresses, the printing and binding location will be in the U.S. or Canada depending on the selected fulfillment mechanism based.
7) Do you ship internationally?
Unfortunately, this is our first vinyasa so to speak, so we are limiting our shipping to the U.S and Canada for the Kickstarter. After publication, it is likely that a print-on-demand English language version will be available internationally.
8) Will nonEnglish versions of these books be available?
Books made available through this Kickstarter will be printed in English. We hope that there will be enough demand to justify translation into languages beyond English, but we cannot make promises at this time. We note that the author is working on his French language skills, but waiting for him to be sufficiently adept to create an understandable French translation may take longer than his lifespan.
9) Will the illustrator and animator receive royalties?
Royalties are expressly provided for in the contracts after the advances are accounted for. So buy enough books, and we’ll make certain they receive royalties.
10) Is there an early bird reward?
We hope to provide a downloadable coloring book page to the first 100 backers.
11) Are there stretch goals?
If our supporters order more than 5,000 paperback copies, we'll have additional printing options which might include higher quality and/or local printing. Similarly, if our supporters order more than 250 videos, we can improve the quality of the video product.
12) If the stretch goals are met, will we receive an extra award?
We hope to provide a special commemorative downloadable coloring book page or a special commemorative sticker.
13) What age range is this book intended for?
Ages 3-8 are the target audience. However, as the book is drafted as a read-aloud, we hope that older siblings and adults will help with the reading. Even some yoga parents may not be familiar with the niyamas.
14) Can adults use this book, or will I be judged by my 5-year-old?
Regardless of this book, you will almost certainly be judged by your 5-year-old, especially when you try to reproduce the llama sounds. However, the niyamas are for everyone! We won’t tell anyone if you’re using a children’s book to guide your personal improvements.
15) What if I have trouble making the llama sounds when I read the stories aloud?
Do the best you can. Most children won't care. You can challenge them to make the llama sounds themselves. However, if you are stickler, real llama vocalizations are readily available through an internet search. We'll provide links to some llama sounds on our social media sites. Eventually, we'll offer an audio book. We are anticipating with much amusement to hear how the voice actor will vocalize those sounds.
16) What age is the yoga video designed for?
Generally, from 5 to 9, largely depending on variables too numerous to list. If you are the responsible adult, we recommend that you watch the video first and come to your own conclusion as to whether the practice is suitable for your child. For younger children, you need to be in the room with them providing a safe environment and supervision for the practice.
17) Will I be able to do the yoga video with my kids?
We certainly hope so! That said, we're not medical professionals, so we cannot provide advice for you specifically. Check with your physician. In general, kids are sometimes able to do things that adults cannot. (When the author's daughter was young, he would show her an asana that they would both do. Then she would create a pose that he had no hope of repeating.) Typically, it is best to backoff or stop doing any asana that challenges your breath or causes you pain. If your child can do something beyond your abilities, give them praise!
18) What if I back this book and my kid still refuses to pick up their toys?
Ah, the "santoṣa " (contentment) challenge! Read the second chapter of our bo0k and reflect. While our book exhibits the value of a tidy space, our years of yoga practice has not achieved magical abilities that can induce a child to put toys back into their bins. We’re working on a game for that! We keep hoping that with a few more years of practice, we'll be able to levitate either the toys or the kids into the bins.
19) Are the stickers edible?
Hmm, that was completely off our radar when designing them. Most adults aren't interested in eating a raccoon or a spider, but we don't judge. Some kids are curious about what everything tastes like, and truly not everything tastes like chicken. While the designs may be a feast for the eyes, the stickers are strictly "low-carb/non-food." Please keep them on water bottles, notebooks, desks, walls, toilet seats, or your most expensive furniture, and off the dinner menu. If you or your child chose to eat them, call poison control just in case. (800) 222-1222
20) Why don't the animals in my neighborhood talk or do asana?
They do! Listen and watch them. Sometimes you just have to catch them before their morning espresso. Certainly, their language is different and their rules of alignment for postures are different due their anatomical differences. Get outside and show them how humans move! Often, neighborhood animals are practicing "stealth yoga." It’s an advanced meditation technique, which looks a lot like staring blankly at you until you fill the bird feeder.
21) My dog already does "downward dog" perfectly. Can he skip the book?
Your dog is clearly a prodigy, but even masters need a refresher. Plus, the book focuses on the niyamas (not on the asanas), and we suspect that your dog could work on his "śauca," (cleanliness) after he rolls in the grass (or something else).
22) Will any trees be harmed to print these books?
Unfortunately, yes. Bamboo paper is currently 20-50% higher in cost than traditional paper. And, what would the pandas eat? We look forward to the day when compostable vegan cellulose book paper can be grown organically in warm tubs set in environments with live comforting music and access to clean outside air.
